Frank Baum describes Glinda as having a white gown that hung in plaits from her shoulders; over it were sprinkled little stars that glistened in the sun like diamonds. In Frank Baum's version, too, the Good Witch of the North is a Munchkin, and has soft white hair and lots of wrinkles. The character's name Glinda does not appear until many book later. In the 1939 movie, she is portrayed in pink with golden curls. Licensed "official" movie versions of the costume are available, as well as several other variations of the Glinda costume.
